About Makkusé

Makkusé brings you the authentic, magical essence of the Himalayas, through traditional Nepali desserts, a celebration of Nepali craftsmanship and flavor.

Our recipes are passed down through generations, reimagining them with innovative flair to deliver a luxurious, wholesome, and scrumptious experience revived with a touch of modern artistry. Each bite carries the warmth and the soul of Nepal. Our journey began with a vision to bring back the forgotten aroma of freshly roasted khuwa that once filled the streets of Kathmandu. Every creation honors local artisans, ingredients, and traditions.

Makkusé means Scrumptious & Beyond Delicious in Newari. The logo, written in Kutaakshar (a form of Ranjana Lipi), pays homage to the Newar heritage as Makkusé reflects the passion for authenticity and artistry from the Newar community.

The Journey of Makkusé Khuwa

We honor tradition by turning fresh milk into our signature khuwa through a timeless process. From the misty peaks of the Mattey Gaun, Angi and the local farmers deliver fresh, wholesome milk. It’s then meticulously slow-simmered for hours in large iron kadais over a wood fire, requiring undivided attention to transform it into the most decadent, aromatic khuwa. This labor of love then makes its daily 3-hour journey to the Makkusé factory, ready for the next step in our dessert magic.
